The New Mexico Asian Family Center is a place for Asian immigrants and their families to share their concerns, to learn about their own and others’ cultures, to build supportive networks, and to increase self-sufficiency.

July 31, “Natya Svaruup: The Timeless Dance”, July 31, 2010 at the Rodey Theater (UNM), from 7-9pm. “Natya Svaruup” is a spectacular presentation of Bharatanatyam” One of the most celebrated traditional dance forms from India that has its roots going back to more than 2500 years. 20% of the proceeds will be donated to the Asian American Association of New Mexico for funding for the Asian Cultural Center. Free Tobacco Cessation Programs are available in Asian Languages (Chinese, Japanese, Tagalog, and Vietnamese).
NMAFC has begun providing individual cessation counseling programs in other Asian languages, such as Chinese, Japanese, and Tagalog (Filipino) in addition to Vietnamese. Counseling in English is also available. The service is on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no fee for participation; however, the participants will be required to attend the full program of eight sessions and two follow-up interviews after counseling is completed. Participants will be able to have free nicotine patches, or other pharmacotherapy products. They will also be instructed on how to access their language at 1-800 QUIT NOW, New Mexico’s free tobacco helpline. Please sign up today.
